Dr. Philip A. Chan, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and School of Public Health at Brown University. He is an internal medicine and infectious diseases physician. Dr. Chan is Chief Medical Officer at Open Door Health and Rhode Island Public Health Institute. He also serves as a Consultant Medical Director for the Rhode Island Department of Health. He is working across public health and medicine to address important topics including primary care, sexual health, chronic disease prevention, substance use, and mental health. Dr. Chan assisted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in writing their 2021 STI Treatment Guidelines, helped write guidelines for doxycycline as post-exposure prophylaxis (DoxyPEP) to prevent bacterial STIs, and is a standing member on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS (PACHA).
